New (Better) Ways to Pitch Private Lenders Remotely

2015-3-30-260 “Don’t you dare take the lazy way… don’t let me catch you doing it! Now, look close at me so you will remember. Whatever you do, it will be you who do.
                          ~ John Steinbeck

Too much, too soon?

Ok, let me try a softer approach…

“I attribute my success to this – I never gave or took any excuse.”
                                        ~Florence Nightingale

In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m all about tough love today, folks, when it comes to pitching to out-of-town private lenders, that is.

No excuses, only solutions

Let’s run it back for just a second…

Back when we created the Private Money Blueprint Home Study Course (which by the way is still hands down one of the best training programs on private money out there), we talked about how to present to out-of-town prospects.

It’s a common question that tends to summon a common response known as… the excuse.

Out-of-town prospects are – for some reason – perceived as challenges, obstacles in the way of your private money agreements.

Is it frustrating at times that you physically can’t sit down with your private lender to present? Sure.

Do I wish I could see my out-of-town prospects body language and facial expressions when I present online? Of course!

Would I prefer to shake hands at the start and end of my presentation? No doubt!

But that doesn’t mean I drop the ball and bail on a potentially awesome opportunity simply because I can’t be face-to-face and with my lenders.

Technology, the next best thing

If you can’t afford the plane ride to personally present to your lender (and most of the time this simply isn’t necessary anyway), there’s this little thing called technology that can help. I say that with love, really I do.

hurricaneBut let me ask you this…

If you were given 7 days to recruit $100,000 from uut-of-town prospects only, and the alternative was death (ouch), would you just throw in the towel? The answer (obviously) goes without saying, but you see where I’m going with this, right?

You’d get your butt on a plane in record time. You’d find a way. Period.

What I’m saying is, all you have to do is use one of these online platforms to present as if you’re right in front of your prospective lender.

The big 3

We’ve talked about some cool resources in the past, but I’m here today to share with you some newer, cheaper and more effective resources that will empower you to present to your lenders as if you are face to face.

Here are my top 3 recommendations for online meeting platforms – all are user-friendly and affordable and will absolutely eliminate any excuses for not connecting with lender prospects, simply because they live in another city.

  1. Google Hangouts

You initiate a hangout and follow the instructions to share your presentation, they follow along. It’s that simple. This is free to both parties, assuming both of you have google accounts.

  1. Skype (for both Windows and Mac)

Love this one. Skype actually offers a screen-sharing feature, so you can simply walk your lenders through your presentations over the internet. Again, Skype is free if you both have an account. If you don’t have one, get one!

  1. Join.me

Check out the free trial. In fact, the basic package (no audio) is free. This resource also offers instant screen sharing, unlimited audio, and it costs just $13-$19/month. That’s a small investment for such a substantial benefit, wouldn’t you say?

Good things happen when you stop making excuses

The success stories are endless. I know so many real estate investors who use webinars through online services like the ones I’ve shared above to heavily recruit private money. Some of them own the largest, most successful real estate investment companies in their cities.

Look, these online resources work! So keep them handy in your tool belt and use them to your advantage.

Remember, excuses stifle motivation and ultimately halt success, so don’t make them! Power through, and use the (awesome) resources available to break down perceived barriers and secure that private money, time and again.

I’m all ears
